EDUCATION
THE KID'S PROGRAM
Our work enhances a student’s understanding of, and excitement for theatre, while instilling deeper self-awareness, courage, and confidence.
By working within our Collective, we tap into some new, uncultivated thoughts and emotions to inspire and focus their creativity.
Generally, children don't discuss details of issues they’re confronted with, nor are they encouraged to share thoughts on what inspires them to make them happy.
We ask them to.
Our program is certainly fun, but also creates a trustful and empathetic setting that generates responses to these queries.
We spend significant time getting to know each child through diverse theatrical exercises, which include but are not limited to: ice-breakers, improvisation, ensemble-building, creative writing, conflict resolution, social justice exercises, and other enriching activities. This work intends to reveal beliefs about their community, and the world at large, while harvesting ideas and emotions that guide them to find their place within each.
All of this empowers them to create in their own voice.
So, the genesis of how we make theatre with our students is simple: they plant the seeds of story, and we cultivate the structure of play.
In this way, they become fully invested, which can be thrilling, and can inspire them to discover who they are,
and who they might become.
