THE NEIGHBORHOOD THEATRE COLLECTIVE LLC
THE PLAYS... THE THINGS
A two-hour after-school theatre performance class for Community
Magnet Charter Elementary Students, open to 2nd through 5th Graders!
BEGINNING OCTOBER 26th THROUGH DECEMBER 11, 2026
Presented by COMMUNITY MAGNET CHARTER
Produced by The Neighborhood Theatre Collective
This intensive program is only open to students in grades 2-5. All potential participants considered/accepted into the program may have varied theatrical abilities.
As an ensemble, students will devise, write, and produce original work that will be performed in a one-hour public performance in the CMCS auditorium.
The plays will be devised through themes explored in various fun theatre practices and games, as well as social/emotional exercises through improvisation. The work always reflects ideas and subject matter deemed important and shared by the students themselves, all with humorous and important elements that they feel need to be expressed. This is a program about courage, trust, and the ability to work together to create art.
Examples of past themes explored include: building confidence, saving the planet, navigating loneliness, various ideas of a flawed “the superhero”, navigating family issues, managing stress as a kid, finding your “place” in the world, etc.
The Plays...The Things relies on kids’ shared life questions & experiences
and transforms those experiences into theatre.
